Wellington, Fla. - March 2, 2017 - US Olympic bronze medalist Kasey Perry-Glass and Goerklintgaards Dublet put in a solid test on Thursday afternoon to win the Palm Beach Derby CDI-W Grand Prix sponsored by Peacock Ridge with a score of 73.420 percent.

Perry-Glass and Goerklintgaards Dublet have had a successful winter season thus far and have their sights set on the World Cup Finals in Omaha, Nebraska.

Perry-Glass was happy with her test on Thursday afternoon though she saw room for improvement.

“The trot work I felt was going really well,” she said. “It’s been a bit tricky the last few weeks. I felt like we lost a little steam in the canter which rolled into mistakes in the one and two tempis. Overall I felt like he was very honest and there’s so much more room for improvement. I just need to ride a clean test. That's my goal for this year.”

Perry-Glass expressed her excitement for Saturday night’s Grand Prix Freestyle class and the potential of qualifying for the World Cup Finals.

“I'm really excited for the Freestyle on Saturday night,” she said. “I think that the Freestyle is something that Dublet and I are both really good at. He feels more comfortable in it and I’m excited to compete it again. I love the music and the choreography that Adrienne Lyle put together for us. It’s kind of the last hurrah before the World Cup to see if we get to go or not. I’m a little bit anxious. I'll be happy either way but I'd love to go, and I think Dublet would love it too.

Olivia LaGoy-Weltz and Lonoir secured second place in the class with a score of 72.920 percent.

LaGoy-Weltz was thrilled with her test, especially as she is coming off of an injury earlier this year and has been out of the competition ring recently.

“I was super happy,” she said. “He was really good. It’s the most solid that he’s felt in there. He just keeps getting more confident which is great. It was clean, or mostly clean which is always a good thing.”

The pair are looking forward to competing in the Grand Prix Special on Friday.

“Going into the Special I’d just like to go through the test clean,” LaGoy-Weltz said.  “For him and I it’s going though the patterns. We haven’t shown the Special a ton. He’s a helpful horse and he gains confidence from knowing the patterns.”

“I think in the future it has the potential to be a really good test for him. As he gets stronger he’s got the capability to have quite a dynamic passage. It's a long test, just a whole level of fitness that’s required. I’m glad it’s going to be cooler tomorrow, though he handles heat well which I’m grateful for.”
